Formed in the 90's, Sworn Enemy is a product of the extremely expansive and influential New York hardcore scene. The new album, "Total World Domination", delivers a sound faster and more pissed off than ever.
What happened in the life of Sworn Enemy since 1997 ? Can you tell us more about the new comers : Sid and JRad ?
In 1997 we were mindset, Sworn Enemy didn’t start until 2000… we’ve toured our asses off for the last 8 years and here we are !... Sid and Jrad have been playing with us for the last 3 years and they’ve been amazing.
What was the response on “Maniacal” ? The press ? The metal fans ?
The press loved it, the metal fans loved it… the hardcore kids hated it… Its understandable, but we loved it and that’s all that matters … we write what we want to play and that’s it.. if we would write in a way to sell out then we would be big.. hahaha
Do you really want to dominate the world with your new album ?
I would love to be able to play the hole world on this album, lets see what happens .. its not easy to make a world tour though. We did hit a lot of parts of the world with maniacal so lets see what this album brings us.
Can tell me what is sounding old-shool in your music and why ?
Old school is what we love, I grew up in the late 80’s early 90’s and that’s all our influences.. every band in that genre was fast pissed off and evil. I love it and that’s why its all over our music.. the rest of the guys feel the same.
What is the importance of the lyrics in "Total World Domination" ? Can tell us more about them ?
We just want to be able to dominate the world with our music in a positive way… play to every culture possible.
In the beginning, the band was a part of the NY hardcore scene. What does it mean for you today ?
The same as it did then… we’re still part of it, we got to most of the show’s in NY to support all our friends and make new ones and we don’t forget where we came from.
What will be the next step for Sworn Enemy ?
To keep chipping away at the stone...
